About me
I work as a picture framer and part time photographer. I plan to start my own business within the next 18-24 months. My plan is to retire abroad by the time I'm 50.....having lived in both Canada and the USA, I've decided to go back to Canada some day to enjoy life! I'd like to live in a log cabin by a lake, but be close enough to the city so that I can have the best of both worlds. I'm looking for that special someone to share these times with. I don't care what you look like really, as long as you're not toooo overweight! It's the one thing in life I have difficulty with. I guess we're all entitled to be a little shallow sometimes!? My idea of a good weekend is wandering the city, going from cafe to cafe....and then toilet to toilet. Maybe I've reached that age? I'd best get myself measured up for some incompetence pants....?? I like to laugh and be happy....usually by making others laugh and become happy.

- Where I liveDescribe your area or region in your own words. What do you like/dislike about your area? I moved to Edinburgh about 6 years ago after coming back from the USA. Out of all the towns and cities I've lived in, Edinburgh is number one for me! I have no plans to leave the city in the near future, but might consider moving some place warmer as I get older!
- Where are you originally from?Leave empty if it does not apply. Otherwise describe where you are from and/or where you lived before. I was born in Folkstone in Kent, but being as both my parents are Scottish and the very fact that I've lived in Scotland most of my life, means I am therefore SCOTTISH! I have no problems with other races and am certainly NOT nationalistic. The world is a big and beautiful place....it's only certain people that ruin it!
- What is your occupation?What is your profession, occupation or what do you spend most of your time with? I am a full time picture framer and part time photographer. I like my jobs, but see myself working for myself within the next 24 months.
- What have you done so far?What sort of jobs did you have in the past or what sort of stuff have you done in the past that you want to mention? My first job was working for an artist in the Scottish Borders. Best job ever, worst paid....go figure! I've worked bar....washed dishes and spent a decade working in the forestry. I'm not back to the start again, but with slightly more magic beans per month than my original job.
- What are your future plans?Have you got any plans for the future or are you already "settled" and completely satisfied with your life as it is now? Other than working for myself, I plan to travel. I've already lived in both Canada and the USA. I've had 3 abortive attempts to move to Germany, but I guess it was not to be. I'm pretty settled in Edinburgh, but know I'd love to retire to the log cabin by the lake....just outside the city by the time I reach 50.....ish!
- Your perfect partnerI don't care if you're ugly....crippled...red, blonde or any other.... My partner would love to wander the city, drinking coffee (go Starbucks and Costa!!). She might have a passing interest in photography....art or crafts. Be down to earth and honest. Reliable and trustworthy and be up for a laugh. Interested in travel, but not the laying on the beach all day for 2 weeks kind of travel. She would have an opinion and would be happy to thrash out that opinion in a good old fashioned chinwag.

- What are you interests/hobbies?Have you got any specfic interests or hobbies? Are you interested in a specific area or subject? My hobbies are mainly photography and travel. I would also put a quiet pint into my hobbies catagory! I like nothing more than to chat over a cool beer....once or twice a month at least! I'm in training to do a long cycling trip....so, if you're into cycling, then that would be kinda cool!
- MusicWhat sort of music are you into? Do you go to live gigs? Do you go to concerts, operas or musicals? I like the Beatles, John Lennon, Mika, ELO, Bob Dylans later stuff....I even like AND own Take That's new album! I have to confess that there is a great deal of good music going around at the moment! Big change from a few years back me thinks!
- Your fav tv seriesWhat are your favourite tv series you would love to watch with your perfect partner? I loved Third Rock From The Sun, Bottom and Black Adder....make of that what you will!
- Types of people you like?Have you noticed what personality traits you like? What kind of people do you come along most easily? In the presence of which people do you feel most comfortable? An easy going, opinionated woman seems to work for me. Tidy, caring, self belief is always a bonus...happy.... I don't mind people being sad and down...but not all of the time! Someone with ideas and a little get up and go!
- What kind of people do you find attractive? Have you got a specific taste as far as look is concerned? Or does the outer appearance of a person mean nothing to you? Be honest... I find slim woman attractive, but then again, who doesn't? Athletic. I kinda like woman with glasses....and a nice, warm smile does me the power of good!
- FoodWhat type of food do you like? Which restaurants to you go to and which ones do you avoid? Do you like cooking? Should your partner be able to cook? What does food mean to you? Have you got a British or French attitude towards eating? I can eat most things....as long as they don't crawl prior to ending up on my plate! The only sea food I like is white fish. I might have my arm twisted into trying strange delicacies, but you might want to stand well back!
- DrinksAre you a sort of Father Jack, do you just get pissed once in a while or are you a strict non-alcoholic? Do you have a predelicton for certain types of drinks/juices? I don't drink often, but do like to drink in good company. I don't drink to drop or to loose sight of reality, but have been known to accidentally get a tad sqiffy!
- HolidaysWhat sort of holiday do you like? Where have you been so far? What are your next destinations? Or does maybe travelling mean nothing to you and you prefer to stay @ home ? I like to taste other cultures. I love the USA, Canada, Germany and France. There's SO much of the world I haven't seen yet, but will slowly be ticking off the places visited as time goes by. I love Berlin, Vancouver, New York, Washington DC, Atlanta, Hamburg, Paris, Soest, and a few more.
- PetsWhats your favourite pet or animal? Or do you hate pets? I had to give up my lovely wee dog Domino a couple of years ago....I'm still coming to tearms with her loss! Hope she's doing well....
- Fav thingWhats's your favourite posession? I love my cameras. I like to capture people when they least expect it or failing that in a studio environment. But there's nothing I own that I couldn't give up. It's life that turns me on and that's what I'd kinda like to keep a grip on!
- Fav PlaceWhat's your favourite place? Just toooo difficult to answer!
My attitude
- Family lifeDo you want to have a traditional family? What about the traditional roles in a marriage? Can you imagine to marry after all or do you think you want to lead a single life forever with lots of short-term relationships? I'm very much a modern man, but with manners. I've been married and have 3 grown up children. Damn that makes me feel old some times! Marriage didn't work for me, but I have no problem with it. I think a couple MUST be the very best of friends. This, in my mind, is THE most important thing to have.
- Jobs&WorkingWhat does your job mean to you? Do you just work for the money or is your job your hobby? Are you carreer-oriented? I've worked all of my life and take pride in all I've done. But I know that to lead the kind of life I want to lead and the kind of life I'd like to offer my loved ones, I have to work for myself.
- MoneyWhat does money mean to you? Would you like to have lots of money or lots of friends if you had to decide? Money has never meant so much to me. It's for spending, right? But, reality knows that I have to get everything in order to enjoy the next 100 years! Did I mention that I plan to live a LONG time?
