I'm from Germany and I finished high school about 3 months ago and right away I started my long time before planned gap year here in Edinburgh. I'm volunteering as a peer mentor in a hostel for ex-homeless young people(17-25yrs) - why? Because I wanted to help people, but also to get out of Germany for a change of pace and as my French is only decent I decided to go to an English speaking country. Well and I really like it here, the people are kind of more open minded and out going than in Germany. The rock/punk/ska music scene on the other hand though is really badly here, as there's rarely good live music here. All they got is DJs all the time! >_<

OK, I'll describe a typical week in my life and you can decide whether you fancy a piece of it. Mon to Wed is spent practicing my profession by day and doing lots of mundane stuff like my washing and ironing in the evening. I cycle to and from work primarily to offset the negative effects that other aspects of my lifestyle have on my waistline. Generally I am off Thursday to Sunday. This enables me to indulge in my main hobby which is playing poker. Poker has taken me all around the world. I love to travel, especially to sunny places, and take as many opportunities as I can to get away whether it be to play poker or just for a holiday.
